Taman Ayun temple was the royal temple of Mengwi Kingdom was built around 1634 AD. The name Taman Ayun means beautiful garden is surrounded by moat. With its spaciousness and lily-covered waters, Taman Ayun is itself naturally host to such thoughts.
It is set on the land which is surrounded by the big fish pond and look like a drift on the water. This temple divided into 3 courts. It owns the beautiful temple building with multistoried roof and Balinese Architecture. The wide beautiful landscape garden in front courtyard to welcome all visitors who come and visit this temple. The last or inner court contains ten very fine meru, the tall tiered towers thatched in black ijuk, a fiber derived from the sago palm.
The tour proceed to visit Tanah Lot Temple, about 30 minutes drive from Taman Ayun Temple.
This celebrated but overrated site consists of a small temple perched on a rocky islet some one hundred meters out from the coast. Except at high tide you can walk across over the rock, but you will not be allowed up into the temple. It is locked except at festival times. But most people have little desire to go there; what they want to do is photograph it from the shore, preferably against the backdrop of a sunset on cloudless day.
